ORDER :
With a view to facilitate foreign
research scholars to consult the records in the Tamil Nadu Archives quickly, the Government have considered
the question of vesting the Commissioner of Archives and Historical Research with the powers to grant
permission to foreign research scholars. They have decided to vest the Commissioner of Archives and
Historical Research with the powers to grant permission to bonafide foreign research scholars to consult the
records in the Tamil Nadu Archives. They have further decided that foreign research scholars whose bonafide
could not be established need not be considered for grant of permission to consult the records in the Tamil
Nadu Archives.
2. The following amendments are
issued to the Rules for regulating access to records in the Tamil Nadu Archives issued in G..O.Ms.No.682,
Education, dated 22.5.86:
AMENDMENT
1. The following sentence
shall be added at the end of Rule 3:
“Applications from aliens not accompanied
by the certificate or proof as
Mentioned above will not be
considered “.
2. The sentence “Applications from aliens for access shall invariably be referred to
Government for orders” occurring in Rule 4(a) shall be deleted.
